Youth Sail Camps
The Greater Richmond Sailing Association on Swift Creek Reservoir offers the chance to enter the exciting sport of sailing. Future sailors ages 8-16 can come out for the first time or come back to further enhance their skills. These one-week camps are taught by U.S. Sailing certified instructors. This adventure-based program promotes leadership, self-confidence, sportsmanship, safety awareness and respect for others. Important: Students must be able to pass a swim test consisting of swimming 50 feet unaided. While on the water all campers must wear a well-fitted Coast Guard approved Type III personal flotation device (PFD). High school students can earn PE credits in Chesterfield County and Richmond City for these camps (please ask your school’s guidance department for details if interested). Registrants will be emailed forms before the start of the course. *Bring completed forms to class on the first morning and turn in to your instructor!

Friday Nights in the Cove
Friday Nights in the Cove Series
These races are intended for single handed dinghy and catamaran sailors.
Beginner Adult Sailing
The Greater Richmond Sailing Association will host Adult Learn to Sail weekends throughout 2025! No experience needed! These two-day courses will teach the foundations of sailing skills: parts of the boat, points of sail, tacking/jibing, sail trim, knots, helmsmanship, and rules of the road. The weekend is hands on with more time spent on the water learning and practicing the skills, than in the classroom. Class size is limited to ensure a low student to instructor ratio providing for individualized instruction. Students will learn to sail in GRSA’s fleet of 19' Flying Scots. Please bring an adventurous spirit, life jacket (well-fitted Coast Guard approved Type III personal flotation device (PFD)), lunch, snacks, sunscreen, towel, a water bottle, and sailing attire for two full days of fun on and in the water. Fee includes a personal copy of US Sailing's current student training manual, a completed Certification Record Book through US Sailing, and two full days of instruction.
For questions about registration, contact Noel Losen, losenn@chesterfield.gov. For questions about the classes, email sailcamp@grsa.org.

For the GRSA Annual Meeting
GRSA to Host 2026 Flying Scot Women’s
North American Championship!
GRSA is proud to announce that we have been selected to host the 2026 Flying Scot Women’s North American Championship (FS Women’s NACs)! This prestigious event will take place May 29-31, 2026, and will bring talented women sailors from across the country to compete on Swift Creek.
After submitting an application last year, GRSA received official approval from the Flying Scot Sailing Association (FSSA) to serve as the host club. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase our community, our beautiful venue, and our ability to organize top-tier regattas. The Women’s NACs typically attract between 14-24 boats, making it an exciting and competitive event for both participants and spectators.
A regatta of this caliber requires strong volunteer support, and we need your help to make this event a success! Kaitlyn Reilly and Kate Gomes will be Co-Chairing the event, but we are looking for dedicated volunteers to step up as committee chairs in the immediate future. Whether you have experience in race management, hospitality, promotions/publicity, or just want to lend a hand, there’s a role for everyone!
To ensure a top notch event, we have secured a US Sailing Chief Judge and Principal Race Officer to oversee race management. We will also have support from the FSSA, ensuring the highest level of competition and fairness on the racecourse.
Want to learn more about how you can get involved? We’re holding an Interest Zoom Meeting on Wednesday, March 12, at 7:00 PM. This is open to everyone—attending does not mean you are committing to a role. It’s simply an opportunity to find out more about the event and volunteer opportunities.
To receive the Zoom link, please fill out the Google Form by following these steps:
1. Click the Google Form link here.
2. Enter your full name in the designated field.
3. Provide your email address so we can send you the Zoom link.
4. (Optional) Indicate any areas of interest if you are considering volunteering.
5. Click Submit to complete the form.
Once submitted, you will receive an email with the Zoom meeting details before the meeting.
We are excited to bring this fantastic event to GRSA and hope to see many of you involved in making it a memorable and successful championship!
