Notice of Race
2021 GRSA Invitational Regatta
June 12th – 13th, 2021
You are cordially invited to the 2021 GRSA Invitational Regatta to be held at the Greater Richmond Sailing Association on Swift Creek Reservoir located southwest of Richmond, VA in Midlothian, VA.
- RULES:
This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by the current edition of The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) for 2021-2024, individual Class Rules, and the Racing Instructions of the Greater Richmond Sailing Association.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY:
- Eligibility and entry will be subject to individual Class Rules.
- Any fleet with three of more boats will be started as a class including a Portsmouth Handicap fleet.
- Advance registration is available online for eligible boats at https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/22568. Registration must be completed by Saturday, June 5th to avoid a late fee. Check in and registration at the regatta site will be available from 1600 – 2000 on Friday, June 11th, and Saturday morning, June 12th from 0900 until 1100.
- FEES:
Fees are $80.00 per boat and include racing, full breakfast for both days, socials after racing, and Saturday’s Low Country Boil (shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, and onions) dinner for skipper and crew(s). Please email Kate Gomes at vinceandkate@yahoo.com with dietary restrictions.
Additional social/dinner tickets are available
a. Adults: $14.00
b. Children 6 to 10: $7.00
c. Children under the age of 6: No Charge
GRSA does not have a beer/liquor license; however, please feel free to bring your own adult beverages if you desire.
4. THE REGATTA:
4.1 There will be a total of five races. Three or four races are planned for Saturday and one or two races for Sunday dependant upon weather.
4.2 One race will constitute a regatta.
4.3 The scoring system will be the Low Point System in Appendix A of the RRS.
4.4 Trophies will be awarded depending upon the number of entries in each class.
5. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sailing Instructions will be available on Regatta Network, at on-site registration, and at the skipper’s meeting. Courses to be sailed will be described in the Sailing Instructions. Any changes to the Sailing Instructions will be made at the Skipper’s Meeting and posted on shore on the GRSA bulletin board.
- SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Friday, June11th: Gates at GRSA open at 1400 for out-of-town arrivals.
On-site registration from 1600 to 2000.
Saturday, June 12th: Gates open at GRSA at 0700
0900 Registration opens
1100 Registration closes
1100 Skipper’s Meeting
1200 Warning signal for first race. Two to three additional races to follow
1730 Social
1830 Dinner
Sunday, June 13th: Gates open at GRSA at 0700
1000 Warning signal for first race. One or more additional races to follow. No race will be started after 1230.
1400 Social and presentation of trophies.

9. DIRECTIONS TO GRSA
The Greater Richmond Sailing Association is located at the intersection of Genito and Woolridge Roads in Chesterfield County, Virginia on Swift Creek Reservoir.
From the North: Take I-95 South to Richmond. Exit at Number 79 for I-195/Powhite Parkway. Please note this is a dual exit for I-195/Powhite Parkway, and I-64 West. There are two lanes and you should stay in the left hand lane for the I-195/Powhite Parkway ramp. Follow I-195 to split for Powhite Parkway (State Route 76), US Route 60/360 and go over the James River onto the Powhite Parkway. Once over the river there is a toll. After toll, stay right and continue approximately 5 miles to another toll. Once through the second toll, continue on past the exit for State Route 288 and you will come to a stoplight. Turn left onto Charter Colony Parkway. At the second light, turn right onto Genito Road. Follow Genito road through to the second light. Turn left onto Woolridge Road and the entrance to GRSA is a left turn lane 50 yards on the left.
From the South: Take I - 95 North to just North of Chester and exit onto State Route 288 North. Exit from Route 288 for Old Hundred Road. Follow the exit to the stoplight and turn left onto Charter Colony Parkway and follow instructions above.
