Adult Sailing Class 2007

On Saturday and Sunday, August 25th and 26th, 9 students joined co-instructors Bill Kitchens and Tony Flores for GRSA’s Annual Basic Adult Sailing course.  Bill and Tony are two of GRSA’s US Sailing certified small boat sailing instructors.  The students received lessons in basic seamanship, righting a capsized vessel and basic racing rules.

This years class was a good mix of current members and folks on the membership waiting list.  The highlight of the two day seminar was the mini regatta held on Sunday.  The participants hard work was rewarded with a US Sailing Basic Sailing card.  Our sailing and race programs allow GRSA to strengthen Richmond’s sailing community. 

Thanks to Bill and Tony for volunteering their weekend to help our members and nonmembers alike in learning more about the joys of sailing.
