GRSA Sunfish Use Rules

1.  Responsibility for maintenance and control of the boats falls to the Chair of the Sailing Programs Committee or his/her designee.

2.  Boats may be used on club sponsored event days without reservation.  For use on non-club sponsored event days you must contact the Sail Program Chairman to request use.  In the event he/she is not available, leave a phone message as to which boat is being used.

3.  Only adult members or their children who have completed the Junior Sailing Program or an equivalent course of formal sailing instruction may use the boats.  Guests of members must be accompanied by a member on the boat.

4.  During club sponsored event days, boats may be used on a first come basis.  In the event of a conflict, preference will be given to junior sailors.  Boats may be reserved in advance for use at a race event not earlier than 7 days prior to the event.

5.  Boats are numbered (1,2,3...etc) as will equipment for that particular boat be.  Members will use the corresponding equipment for each boat.

6.  Coast Guard approved Type I, II, III, or V personal flotation device will be worn by all persons (youth and adult) at all times while on the boat.

7.  Boats should be inspected prior to use and members agree to assume all responsibility for the boat and equipment while in use by the member, or their family, and agree to reimburse the club for replacement parts as a result of any damage sustained beyond breakage associated with normal wear and tear.

8.  In agreement for use of the boats, members, their family, and guests agree to hold harmless GRSA and its members and officers for any incident or injury sustained during use of the boat.

9.  After using the boat the member will return the boat to its original location, clean the boat and equipment, replace and secure the boat, cover, and return the equipment to the proper storage location from whence it was obtained.  Any damage must be reported to the Sailing Programs Chair.

10.  Boats will not be purposely overturned unless part of an approved instructional program.  Use of the boats in any unsafe or inappropriate manner will result in forfeiture of the member family’s right to use the boats for the remainder of that season.
