Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is now accepting registrations for its 20th Anniversary Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta. The 2018 Event will be held July 13-15 at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. Sailors and non-sailors alike can visit www.leukemiacup.org/va to register a boat, purchase tickets to the weekend festivities, or sign up as a Virtual Sailor to fundraise for LLS.
Friday evening will feature a barbecue dinner hosted by Stingray Harbour Yacht Club, a skippers’ meeting, auctions, and music by Mike Dale. Our Saturday evening Party for the Cure will feature dinner, sailing awards, silent and live auctions, and music by Julius Pittman and the Revival. Tickets are available for purchase in the online store.
As in the past, two days of racing activities will be organized by Fishing Bay Yacht Club, and features Cruising, PHRF, and Classic classes. The Leukemia Cup offers a chance for serious racers and cruisers to join in the fun as well as the cause.
Since its inception 20 years ago, the Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta has raised over $2.2 million dollars in support of LLS’ mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the lives of patients and their families. Diane Simon, Regatta Chair and leukemia survivor, and members of the Regatta Committee are appreciative of the many contributions from the community and supporting yacht clubs that make it possible to stage this important event.
