Keeping the club grounds neat and orderly is every members
responsibility. Please take some time and cut the grass
around your boat, and while you are at it, cut some along
the drives or other nearby boats as well. There are a couple
of new lawn mowers that are coming into service and we need
you to treat them as if they were your own.
Special Work Day Called Saturday, May 17, 2008
9:00-about Noon
GRSA Commodore Jim Hudson has called for a crew of
volunteers to come to the Club this Saturday morning (May
17) to assist Facilities Chairman, Captain John Swenson put
the finishing touches on the Club facilities and grounds to
get the place in tip top condition for the Memorial Day
Regatta and Social that kicks off our Summer Season of fun
and relaxation.
The "to-do" list is not all that long, but everything
needs to get done. We plan on installing rubber bumpers on
the docks, we need a couple of folks to bring some waders or
hip boots as you might need to stand in the water. We need
to raise the Flag pole, which was knocked down earlier this
year during one of the nasty storms that have washed out
much of the Spring sailing season. And there is a lot of
grass that needs cut, weeds that need trimmed and a pavilion
that needs cleaned.
The first work day of the year was
the Spring Workday on Saturday, March 29.
Thanks to all who came out to help.
Some boats in the yard are starting
to take on an appearance of abandonment. Please come out and
drain the water that is collecting and creating a breeding
ground for mosquitoes and clear out the growth under your
trailer. Also, make sure there is air in the tires should
there be a need to move your boat around the yard.
Thanks again for all of the help!!
John Swenson
